Ayurveda is India’s own medicine or healing system that is considered to be one of the world’s oldest. Admission to the Ayurvedic courses is available after students have studied the required qualification of the 12th standard. Candidates who qualify at this level with almost 50% score and the major subjects of/her study were Biology, Physics, and Chemistry then students are considered eligible for admission.
Entries in such courses are also based on entrance exams and two of the most common entrance exams in this regard are KEAM and NEET-UG and these may be followed by an interview.

Sanskrit language is necessary for the study of BAMS courses as it deals with various specializations of Ayurveda whose names are derived from Sanskrit.

This is to be considered because pursuing MBBS will open up more career options by specializing and treating patients in multiple ailments or even specializing in one. On the other hand, if you pursue BAMS, you will only be able to treat with Ayurveda, and only at a preliminary level
There is a conflict between the statement of Indian Medical Association and CCIM about this. The Indian Medical association has opined that the BAMS cannot perform surgery. The CCIM has however declared that it would train the candidates to conduct 58 different surgeries.
